"I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending FOI to community groups." - Sandy Longmuir, Scottish Rural Schools Network.
The Scottish Information Commissioner is a public authority for the purposes of FOISA and must respond to requests for information that he holds. The number of information requests in 2010/11 was 158 – broadly similar to the previous year but up from 84 in 2008/9. All 22 of the Commissioner’s staff deal with information requests, responding to an average of eight each during 2010/11. 42% of requests during the year were fulfilled in full or part – but 46% were for information not held by the Commissioner.
