"Even with a demanding caseload, we are meeting our targets for case closure." - Kevin Dunion, Scottish Information Commissioner.
While we are investigating more cases, the average age of cases in our caseload is reducing, in line with our duty to promote economy, efficiency and effectiveness. Only 17% of cases under investigation were over six months old at the end of 2010/11, compared to 36% the preceding financial year. The average age of cases closed during 2010/11 was up slightly, and we will continue to focus efforts on reducing this.
The average age of cases open at year end has dropped to just 4.4 months – the lowest since FOISA/the EIRs came into force.
