""Self-help tools for improving practice

While the prospect of a practice assessment visit from the Commissioner may provide a focus for action, authorities can – and should - assess their own practice and make improvements regularly.  Public authorities have a statutory duty to comply with their obligations under FOI law in Scotland, and observing good practice helps ensure these requirements are met.

As well as ensuring compliance, good practice can also reduce administrative burden, improve staff morale and enhance organisational reputation.
