Enquiries overview

Providing support...

The Commissioner's staff provide advice, support and guidance to anyone seeking further information on the operation of Scotland's FOI laws – from advising the public on how to make an FOI request, to assisting public authorities with the appropriate interpretation of the legislation.

7,891 enquiries have been received over the five years since the Act came into force, with the majority coming from members of the public. Enquiry numbers have continued to rise over the last year, with a 16% increase since 2008, and a 24% increase on 2007 volumes.
