An information notice is not the same as a decision notice. Information notices require public authorities to supply information to the Commissioner during the course of an investigation. Occasionally they can be used to speed up the investigation of cases. Decision notices, on the other hand, are issued to both the public authority and applicant at the conclusion of an investigation. A decision notice sets out the Commissioner's final decision in relation to a case.
