One of the Commissioner's primary functions is to promote public awareness of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act.

The Commissioner promotes the content and spirit of the Act in a variety of ways, including attending public engagements and eventsgiving speeches and writing articles.  Her office also deals with enquiries and works with the media.
