Section 3: Preparing the Publication Scheme

When preparing or reviewing the Commissioner’s publication scheme, the Commissioner is obliged by FOISA to have due regard to the public interest in providing access to the information that the Commissioner holds which relates to:

  • the services we provide;
  • the costs of those services;
  • the standard of those services;
  • the facts that inform the important decisions we take; and
  • the reasoning that informs the Commissioner’s decisions.

This scheme has been designed to ensure that information relating to each of these categories is made available wherever possible.

In preparing this scheme, we have tried to ensure that a wide range of information about the Commissioner’s Office and work is made easily accessible to the public. Particular effort has been made to ensure that information that is in the public interest is included in the scheme.

To ensure that it is easy to use and contains information that people want to see, the Commissioner consulted with a small number of organisations on the contents of this publication scheme. The comments received in response have been taken into account in its revision and development.
