All Scottish public authorities have produced a document called a publication scheme which explains what information they already make available or intend to make available.
The Scottish Information Commissioner is a Scottish public authority, and has produced his own publication scheme as required by Section 23 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
If you are looking for information about the publication schemes operated by other Scottish public authorities, see the separate web page: "Online publication schemes".
This section of the website deals only with the Scottish Information Commissioner's publication scheme. It lists the classes of information that he publishes or intends to publish; how you can access or obtain publications; and whether any charges will apply.
You can search for information available from the Scottish Information Commissioner in the following ways:
Information falling within the classes listed in this scheme will always be made available unless there is a good reason not to do so. The only circumstances in which information will be withheld are where one or more of the exemptions listed in the Act is judged to apply. See the Information not available through the publication scheme page for more information on exempt information.
Where possible, documents are made available online through this website, but requests can also be made for printed copies to be sent by post, or for electronic files to be sent by e-mail. We will also take all reasonable steps to provide information in alternative formats (e.g. Braille, audio tape) and languages if required.
