Freedom of information (FOI) is a valuable resource for the voluntary sector. The FOI legislation provides a right of access to information held by public authorities that can be used to both support individual clients, or pursue wider organisation or campaign goals.
On these pages, we answer some of the questions that campaign groups and voluntary organisations may have when making use of the FOI right, while also providing ongoing updates on the progress of a three year academic study, supported by the Scottish Information Commissioner, which will explore the ways in which the voluntary sector uses FOI.
